Overview

Yemen’s conflict has persisted since 2014–15, although the geographic intensity of fighting has changed over time. The crisis combines armed conflict, economic collapse, damaged public services, displacement and climate-related shocks.

Humanitarian scale in 2026

UNHCR estimates that 22.3 million people in Yemen will require humanitarian assistance in 2026, including 5.2 million internally displaced people. UNHCR also notes that floods and other climate-related disasters now account for a large share of new displacement.
