Corrections

CAWT corrects factual errors and clarifies material ambiguity when identified. A correction should state what changed, not simply overwrite the record when the earlier wording could have affected a reader’s understanding.

To flag a possible error, use the Contact page and include the URL, the sentence or figure in question, and the strongest source you believe supports a correction.

What counts as a correction?

Misspellings and formatting fixes may be corrected silently. Changes to dates, casualty or displacement figures, attribution, territorial descriptions, parties, legal findings or the substance of an event should be noted in the article or correction record.
