Editorial Policy

CAWT uses neutral, specific language and avoids presenting contested descriptions as settled facts. We distinguish verified events from allegations and analysis.

Attribution

Statements about responsibility, intent, casualty totals, territorial control or legal violations are attributed when they come from a party, authority, monitor or analyst rather than from an independently established finding.

Terminology

Names of conflicts, territories, authorities and armed groups are chosen for clarity and searchability. A label is not intended to confer recognition, legitimacy or legal status.

Graphic material

Images should add evidentiary or explanatory value. Gratuitously graphic imagery is avoided. Captions should identify the source, place and date when known.

Automation and AI

Automation may assist formatting, cross-linking and editorial workflows, but it should not be treated as a factual source. Published factual claims must remain traceable to cited material that an editor can inspect.
