UNHCR’s regional data portal recorded 3,945,949 registered Syrian refugees in the principal neighbouring response countries as of 16 July 2026. Separately, the Syria country portal recorded 1,966,356 IDP returnees as of 9 July 2026.
These are not directly comparable stock-and-flow measures. CAWT does not subtract returnees from refugee or displacement figures to create a synthetic “net displacement” number.
